"One Belt and One Road" is very attractive to Austria
President Xi Jinping met with Austrian President Heinz Fischer


   President Xi Jinping held meeting with Austrian President Heinz Fischer at the Great Hall of the People on March 27th. President Fischer said that the "One Belt and One Road" initiative is very attractive to Austria. Austria attaches great importance to this proposal from China, and it is willing to take an active role in this meaningful project. Austria also attached great importance to the Asian Investment Bank, and it is looking forward to collaborate with China to provide more support to the cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern Europe.
   Xi Jinping pointed out that after the two countries established diplomatic ties in 40 years ago, China and Austria have been continuously deepening cooperation in various fields with strong momentum and diversity. "I wish to work with you and Austria to further develop our friendship, deepen bilateral cooperation, and promote the existing relations to the new high for the two countries."
   Xi Jinping stressed that China and Austria should be mutually respected and trustworthy friends who care each other's core interests and concerns in political, diplomatic and judicial areas. The two countries will communicate and collaborate on major international and regional issues within the United Nations and other multilateral organizations. As pragmatic cooperation partners, China and Austria will discover the potentials in advanced manufacturing industry, environmental protection, green science and technology, power grid construction, agriculture, finance and other fields for realizing new growth points and expanding the scale of mutual investment. The two sides should strengthen cultural exchanges and jointly hold the series of cultural activities for the 45th Anniversary of established diplomatic relations between China and Austria. The governments should encourage scientific innovation research cooperation, youth exchanges, local and non-governmental exchanges, promote personnel exchanges and tourism. Given the conceptual framework "One Belt and One Road", this initiative will link all countries along the way. Europe is the end of the Silk Road economic belt; therefore, the feasibility of cooperation between China and Austria is very high. China hopes Austria to play an active role in promoting various investment agreement with China and creating the Free Trade Zone in the Central Europe. We welcome Austria to participate more into those projects.
   President Fischer said that China's strong economic growth brought prosperity to the country and improved the wellbeing of its people. China attaches great importance to international affairs and actively participates in the UN and other international organizations. It plays a leading role in many global affairs. Currently, we are very pleased to see the progress in China and Europe's relationship. The "One Belt and One Road" is very attractive to Austria, and Austria attaches great importance to this project. It is also willing to be a part of the Asian Investment Bank that is expected to provide many benefits and supports to China's cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe. Austria also hopes to cooperate with China in many sectors, including finance, agriculture, energy, science and technology, culture, art, sports and other fields.
   The two leaders also discussed and exchanged views on the climate change, the Iranian nuclear and other international and regional issues.
