UNESCO - The First Meeting of the International Network for the Silk Road Online Platform
 
 
 
   At the 70th anniversary of UNESCO, "The First Meeting of the International Network for the Silk Road Online Platform" was held at the starting point of the "Ancient Silk Road" – Xi' an City on May 23rd.
   More than 100 cultural heritage experts and scholars from China, Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, India, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Mongolia, Oman and other countries along the Ancient Silk Road participated this international conference. They discussed how to promote dialogue, pluralism and the development of the Silk Road network platform with the UNESCO. Also, the participants compiled and released relevant information and data about the cultural and natural heritage sites, the intangible cultural heritage, world history as well as creativity industries.
   With the meeting, delegates from various countries gathered in Xi' an City, which was the starting point of the Silk Road in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Xi'an City has very deep Chinese culture embedded and well maintains the beauty and traditions of the Chinese historical and cultural heritage. People could enjoy the beautiful ancient town while talking about new international cooperation strategies to help promoting the revival of the Silk Road culture of China.
   The organizer of this international event, Tang West Market Cultural Industry Investment Group of China, is one of the top leaders in the cultural industry of Shanxi province. In 2014, the Deputy Director-General of the UNESCO Mr. Hans d'Orville visited the company for one week and signed the Memorandum of Cooperation to establish the UNESCO "Silk Road Cultural Center" in the Silk Road International Expo Park.
   At the conference, the delegates and participants developed a program of action of the Silk Road network platform to further enhance international friendship within the framework of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022). The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Xi' an Declaration.
